Grimes
Friday was a hectic day of speed walking from the westside up to Flatiron and then back. After the weeks closing act at Ace Hotel I rushed back in time to catch Grimes. Claire Boucher, aka Grimes, is the solo artist from Montreal, Canada who creates eccentric electronic music. Her hypnotic music and artsy look have you gazing and flowing away. The sounds she create are hauntingly soothing. She is quit a talented artist. Reminds me of Lykke Li in so many ways. And I’m not afraid to make that comparison. If you see her perform you can really appreciate all of the work she is doing to create her artistic performance. Not only that, her music is good music and can be quite catchy. You don’t always have to know the words to her music to sing along. It just flows. Also check out her new song Oblivion which is a track from her album coming in 2012.
